Georgia’s President Salome Zurabishvili says protests in the country are being met with violence and repression.
Protests have been happening for 45 days in major cities. Despite this, police are continuing to arrest and torture people who speak out against the government.
President Zurabishvili said that anyone who was arrested during previous protests has been kept in detention by court order. She claims there is no legal reason for this.
She also accused judges of following orders from the ruling party.
Zurabishvili expressed outrage over the arrest of a director, saying it shows “terror” in Georgia. She also mentioned that journalists are still being arrested.
