Illegal Police Detention in Georgia
The Legal Aid Network of NGOs has made a statement about the police’s actions on January 11. They say that peaceful demonstrators were detained by the police, and force was used against them.
According to the information from the Legal Aid Network, more than 10 people were detained in Tbilisi and Batumi. Some of these people are still being held in temporary detention centers. Their lawyers have talked to them, and what they’ve said is disturbing. The detainees claim that the police used force on them, not just during the arrest but also after.
The lawyers tried to meet with the detainees last night and give them legal help.
