**Serbia Talks to US Over Oil Company Sanctions**
Serbia’s Foreign Minister, Marko Djuric, said on Monday that the country has started talking to the United States about new sanctions on Russia.
The US Treasury recently imposed sanctions on Russian energy companies, including one that owns a majority of Serbia’s oil industry company, NIS. The US wants to punish Russia for its actions in Ukraine and other countries.
Djuric told Serbian TV that Serbia will make sure it gets a fair deal from the US. He said: “Our government has already started talking to American partners and we are working to find the best solutions for the state.”
The minister also said that Serbia is taking steps to ensure there won’t be any problems with fuel supplies.
Djuric added that starting talks with the US is a good thing, even if it means disagreeing on some issues. He said: “This is important for Serbia’s position in the world.” The talks will cover defense, security, and foreign policy issues between Serbia and the US.
