Russia and Ukraine Make Big Prisoner Swap.
The two countries have exchanged hundreds of prisoners in a deal helped by the United Arab Emirates. This means many soldiers will finally go home to their families.
According to Russia‘s defence ministry, 150 Ukrainian soldiers were freed in exchange for an equal number of Russian troops being released from captivity. However, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenksy said that 189 Ukrainians had been returned home.
A BBC reporter was present when some of the freed Ukrainians were reunited with their loved ones in the north of the country. The prisoners’ release has brought relief to many families who are eager for them to be back home safely.
