Blinken spoke about the Russia-Ukraine war, which has been a concern for many. He said there is no need to speculate about whether Ukraine will win or lose under the new administration.
**US Support for Ukraine**
Trump had previously criticized sending military aid to Ukraine and promised to end the war quickly. This has raised concerns about future US support for Ukraine.
Blinken emphasized that his team wants to give Trump’s administration a strong hand in dealing with world issues, including the situation in Ukraine.
**Upcoming Talks Between Trump and Putin**
Trump is expected to have a phone call soon with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Mike Waltz, Trump’s nominee for national security adviser, said this is a planned conversation.
However, Russia has welcomed Trump’s readiness for talks but ruled out a face-to-face meeting before Trump takes office. Moscow had previously rejected Trump’s team’s proposed peace plan.
**Biden’s Confidence**
Outgoing President Joe Biden expressed confidence that his administration’s support for Ukraine will continue under Trump. He said he did all he could to help and hoped for continued US backing.
