Russia’s Military Loses Big in Ukraine
Russia has lost a huge number of troops, vehicles, and equipment since it started its full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022. According to the Ukrainian military, Russia has lost 811,090 troops, including 1,330 casualties just over the past day.
The losses also include many vehicles and weapons systems. These are some of the numbers reported by the Ukrainian military: 9,767 tanks, 20,326 armored fighting vehicles, 33,791 vehicles and fuel tanks, 21,923 artillery systems, and many other types of equipment.
A drone attack on an industrial facility in Russia’s Saratov region caused damage. This is not close to the front lines with Ukraine. The Baltic Sea region has also experienced disruptions to power cables, telecom links, and gas pipelines due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky spoke with French President Emmanuel Macron about the situation on the front line and the possibility of sending peacekeeping troops to Ukraine.
Russia’s military has been struggling in Ukraine. The country‘s economy is also being affected by sanctions imposed by many countries, including new ones recently signed into law by President Zelensky.
Ukraine has also received support from other countries, such as the UK. The UK has invested in Ukrainian weapons production and will continue to fund air defense systems and long-range weapons.
