Serbian Students Face New Criticism
Protesting Serbian students are facing a new attack from the government. A media outlet close to the regime, B92 portal, has accused them of supporting the terrorist group Hamas.
This criticism is based on an article by Efraim Zuroff, who investigated the Holocaust. In his piece for the Jerusalem Post, he said that some Serbian students and theater actors were using a red hand symbol. This symbol, according to Zuroff, is also used by Hamas.
The opposition official Borko Stefanovic has responded to this accusation. He wrote in a statement that Zuroff’s article was quoted by pro-regime media to attack the students, actors, and their supporters.
Stefanovic said that it was impossible for Zuroff not to know what symbols Hamas uses. He also accused Zuroff of linking a video of Palestinian terrorists lynching Israeli soldiers in 2000 with the student protests in Serbia. Stefanovic called this a “vicious and dangerous deception” and asked why Zuroff made these claims.
The red hand symbol in Serbia is actually a call for justice for 15 people who died in a tragic accident at a railway station in Novi Sad.
