**Moldovan Officials React to Russian Threat**
Moldova‘s government has strongly condemned recent comments made by Nikolai Patrushev, an aide to Russian President Vladimir Putin. In an interview, Patrushev said that Moldova would either become part of another state or cease to exist due to its “anti-Russian policy”.
**Patrushev Blames Moldovan Government**
Patrushev also blamed the Moldovan government for the energy crisis and urged them to admit their mistakes and fix the situation. The energy crisis was worsened by Russia’s suspension of gas supplies in December.
**Moldova Responds**
Moldova’s Foreign Ministry called Patrushev’s comments “unacceptable interference” in the country’s internal affairs. They stated that Moldova is a sovereign state that stands firmly on the path of democracy and European integration, as chosen by its citizens.
**Energy Crisis Deepens**
The energy crisis has led to significant disruptions in the Russian-controlled Transnistria region, including power outages and industrial shutdowns. While Moldova has transitioned to European energy supplies, Transnistria remains heavily reliant on Russian gas.
