A deputy dean of Novi Sad University‘s law school is asking for exams to go ahead as planned, despite student protests. The students are demanding that exams be cancelled and classes stopped.
The deputy dean, Sandra Fiser Sobot, says the Teaching Council should draft a request to hold exams outside the law school. She claims that the blockade of the building prevents it from being used and that students’ rights are being violated.
However, student leaders say holding exams in the courthouse would be illegal. They have been protesting for several days, taking over university buildings and stopping all classes and exams.
According to Fiser Sobot, 1,900 students have applied to take exams in January, which is more than half of the total number of students enrolled. She wants the courts to provide office space for the exams, but student leaders disagree with this plan.
