When someone takes away my ability to make choices, publicly insults me, and treats me unfairly, it’s only natural for me to reevaluate our relationship. If this behavior continues, it’s impossible for us to have a one-sided friendship or partnership. This is what Guram Macharashvili, a member of the parliamentary majority, stated to the media. He believes that if the United States continues to treat the Georgian government in this manner, it will only widen the gap between the two countries.
Macharashvili also expressed his concern about the recent decision by the US administration to suspend police officers. He believes that this decision only adds to the suspicion that the US sees Georgia as a vassal rather than a partner. This is the reason why Prime Minister Kobakhidze spoke out against the US ambassador. Such non-partner attitudes from the US are counterproductive and do not benefit the opposition. However, it’s clear that this is the intention behind these actions. First, judges were sanctioned, and now police officers. It seems like the US is trying to undermine state institutions and create a scenario for the opposition to start a revolution.
But the Georgian people see through these actions and view them as insults. The more pressure and unfair treatment the government faces, the more likely it is that the people will support them in the upcoming elections. It’s clear that the US’s actions are only pushing the Georgian people closer to their government.
