Gigi Ugulava Reacts to Attack on Giorgi Gakharia
Opposition politician Gigi Ugulava has spoken out in support of Giorgi Gakharia, leader of the “For Georgia” party. Gakharia was attacked last night at a hotel in Batumi.
Ugulava expressed his solidarity with Gakharia and wished him a quick recovery. He also mentioned that he and another politician, Goka Gabashvili, were attacked by people linked to the government when they were both ministers. Ugulava claimed that the Ministry of Internal Affairs opened a case against him at the time.
Ugulava said that what matters now is not who did what in the past, but rather how people come together to fight for their rights. He called on Georgians to unite and stand up against “Russian zombies” and other forces that seek to divide them.
Gakharia was taken to the hospital after the attack, where he received treatment for a nasal bone fracture and concussion. He has since been discharged.
A confrontation also occurred at the hotel involving Zviad Qoridze, an NGO representative, who claimed to have been confronted by a representative of the “Georgian Dream” party and his companions.
