Estonia Demands NATO Sticks to Its Promise
The Chairman of Estonia’s Parliament, Marko Mihkelson, says NATO must keep its promise to admit Ukraine and Georgia into the alliance.
In 2008, NATO leaders decided that both countries would become members. However, now four countries – the US, Germany, Hungary, and Slovakia – do not support Ukraine’s membership in NATO.
Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said these countries are being honest about their opposition to Ukraine joining NATO. They just don’t think Ukraine should be a member yet for various reasons.
Marko Mihkelson is demanding that NATO, including the US and Germany, keeps its word on Ukraine and Georgia’s membership in the alliance. He made his statement on social media platform X.
