**Dutch MEP Urges EU Support for Georgia**
A Dutch member of the European Parliament is calling on the EU to take action in support of Georgia. Reinier van Lanschot said that the country needs more help from Brussels.
The MEP was speaking during a debate on Georgia in the European Parliament. He highlighted the struggles faced by protesters who have been demonstrating for 55 days against the government.
**Conditions on Streets**
Van Lanschot described the harsh conditions faced by protesters. They stand outside for hours, shivering with cold and afraid of being beaten by police. Despite these hardships, they continue to protest because they want democracy and freedom in their country.
**EU Action Needed**
The MEP criticized the EU’s response so far. He said that the Commission has only made it slightly harder for officials from the repressive regime to travel abroad. Van Lanschot urged the EU to do more.
**Support Needed**
Van Lanschot called on the European Commission to take a stronger stance. He suggested that a visit by EU officials to Georgia, support for President Zurabishvili, and real sanctions against the government would be important steps forward.
