**Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe May Be Used as a Tool**
The Chairman of Georgia’s Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, has responded to an opposition appeal. They want to suspend the mandate of Georgia’s parliamentary delegation in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe.
Papuashvili says this would be bad for the Assembly itself. It’s meant to be a platform for dialogue, not a tool for political groups.
He claims the opposition is being used by external handlers. They’re like puppets following instructions from outside. The Chairman believes international formats are being used for party purposes.
The European People’s Party has been accused of supporting a regime in Georgia that brought torture and media shutdowns. Papuashvili says this was a shameful act.
He hopes the members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will not fall for these attempts to use them as a tool. If they do, it would damage the Assembly and undermine its purpose.
