**President Accuses Prosecutor‘s Office of Being Above the Law**
The President of Georgia, Salome Zurabishvili, has spoken out against the country’s prosecutor’s office. She claims that they are always right in hundreds of administrative cases and 53 criminal ones.
In a post on social media platform X, she said: “This is a dictatorship.” She also accused the judges and courts of being under the control of Bidzina Ivanishvili, a wealthy businessman who is believed to have significant influence over the government. She called them “Russian crownies” and Ivanishvili’s “slaves”.
**Concerns Over Offshore Assets**
The President also addressed concerns raised by Transparency International Georgia about the transfer of offshore assets to Georgia after US financial sanctions in December 2024. She noted that a law allowing for the creation of such assets was passed while other laws were being closely watched.
She wrote: “It is to be noted that the offshore law (which I vetoed) was adopted… and thus did not raise adequate reactions from international organizations like the IMF, European Commission, and US Department of State.”
