**Council of Europe Supports Georgian People**
The Council of Europe Assembly has adopted a resolution that is very important for the people of Georgia. This support comes after Georgia’s government, called Georgian Dream, was expelled from the Assembly.
Elene Khoshtaria, a leader of the Coalition for Change, said that this resolution reflects what people are fighting for in Georgia. It also limits the functioning of Georgian Dream in the Council of Europe and asks them to leave.
**Russian Comparison**
Ms. Khoshtaria compared the reaction of Georgian Dream to Russia’s behavior in 2022, when they were expelled from the Council of Europe after attacking Ukraine. Russian officials then staged a performance as if they were leaving voluntarily. This is similar to what Georgian Dream did, said Ms. Khoshtaria.
**New Elections and Release of Political Prisoners**
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe has called on Georgia to hold new elections in the coming months, release political prisoners, and continue its path towards European integration. The resolution was adopted with a large majority – 114 out of 134 deputies voted in favor.
After this resolution, Georgian Dream announced that it would stop working in the Council of Europe Assembly.
