**Israel’s PM Netanyahu to Meet Trump at White House**
Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s prime minister, will meet Donald Trump at the White House. This meeting is important for the Gaza ceasefire.
**Ceasefire Deal**
A six-week truce deal was agreed upon between Israel and Hamas. The deal has released 13 Israelis, five Thai hostages, and 583 Palestinians in exchange. Netanyahu says this was only a temporary ceasefire and that Israel reserves the right to fight against Hamas again.
**US Support**
The US Middle East Envoy, Steve Witkoff, will meet with Netanyahu on Monday. He has been working with Qatar and Egypt to secure the ceasefire. The goal is to free 33 hostages by March 1 in exchange for 1,900 Palestinians held in Israeli prisons.
**Gaza Conflict**
The Gaza conflict has been ongoing since October 2023. Israel’s military assault killed around 47,400 Palestinians, according to Hamas’ health ministry. Netanyahu’s office says the meeting with Witkoff marks the beginning of scheduled negotiations.
