**President Urges International Pressure on GD Government**
Georgia‘s President Salome Zurabishvili has called for international pressure on the ruling party, the Georgian Dream (GD), to hold new elections. She made this statement after a meeting with EU countries’ ambassadors and opposition leaders.
The GD government recently removed the mandates of 49 opposition MPs. President Zurabishvili said that this move effectively ends political life in Georgia, as there is no longer any space for politics. She added that the constitution no longer exists, and people’s rights are not protected.
**Repression and Elections**
President Zurabishvili urged international partners to take a firmer stance against the GD government’s repressive actions. She called for Western allies to recognize that the current regime is similar to a Russian-style dictatorship. The President emphasized that there must be a joint demand from Georgia and its partner countries for elections to take place.
**Criticism of GD Government**
The President criticized recent laws initiated by the GD party, describing them as purely repressive tools. She also slammed the government’s foreign policy, saying it has come to a standstill. The economy is not functioning properly, and investment has been halted.
**Investment Deal with UAE**
President Zurabishvili commented on an alleged investment deal between Georgia and the UAE. She questioned the purpose of this memorandum, which was claimed as “the largest investment in the history of Georgia.”
**International Pressure Needed**
The President also called for international pressure from the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) to stop the alleged purges within the Public Broadcaster. She emphasized the importance of freedom and democracy in Georgia.
