European Union Officials Speak Out Against Georgian Government
The European Commissioner for Enlargement, Olivér Várhelyi, has spoken out against the Georgian government’s latest moves. He said on social media platform X that the proposed changes to the law are “alarming”.
Várhelyi believes the new laws will hurt citizens’ rights to freedom of expression and assembly. He called on the Georgian authorities to change course and return to their path towards joining the European Union.
The Commissioner emphasized the importance of respecting the will of the Georgian people in making decisions about the country’s future.
