Investigation Launched into Threat to Georgian State
The General Prosecutor’s Office in Georgia has started an investigation. This was announced by the agency in a press release.
The investigation is looking into actions that could harm the country. It involves providing help to organizations that are controlled by foreign countries and work against Georgia’s interests.
A public movement called “Unified Neutral Georgia” submitted a statement to the General Prosecutor’s Office. They said that both Georgian and external actors have been working together to threaten the country’s security and constitutional order.
The investigation team includes experts from the State Security Service and the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The public will be informed about the progress of the investigation.
Some people who founded “Unified Neutral Georgia” had previously asked for an investigation into a spy network they claimed was operating in the country. They said that both external actors and individuals working against Georgian interests were involved in this attack on the country.
The statement from “Unified Neutral Georgia” mentioned an example where materials meant for violent actions were found at party offices.
