**North Korea Sends to Russia**

North Korea has given Russia around 200 long-range artillery pieces. This is according to the South Korean Defense Ministry, as reported by on February 11.

**Russia’ War Effort**

These artillery pieces are part of larger package of support that North Korea has provided to Russia. The has also sent ballistic and millions of artillery shells. Additionally, up to 12,000 North Korean have been deployed to Russia’s Oblast to help Russian forces fight against Ukraine.

**Trade-Offs**

The South Korean Defense Ministry suspects that North Korea is receiving technological assistance from Russia in exchange for its military support. This includes help with nuclear-powered submarines and intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBM). North Korea may also be producing drones with Russian technical assistance this year.

**Human Losses**

At least North Korean soldiers have been killed and another 2,700 wounded fighting in Russia’s Kursk Oblast, according to South Korea’s National Intelligence Service. Ukraine claims that up to 4,000 North Koreans have been killed or injured.
