According to NBC News, Turkish President has suggested that the United States and other NATO members are hesitant to accept Ukraine into the . This comes as President prepares to present his plan for to the White House this week, which reportedly includes a request for swift action and a guarantee of NATO .

In an interview at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Erdogan stated that Ukraine’s proposal for NATO membership should not be rushed. He believes that the US and other alliance members do not want Ukraine to become a member state. This stance is consistent with Erdogan’s previous objections to Sweden and Finland joining NATO, citing concerns over Kurdish rebel groups and arms restrictions. However, eventually ratified both countries for membership.

During the interview, Erdogan also discussed Turkey’s growing relationship with Russia. He stated that their are multidimensional, covering political, economic, cultural, and industry aspects. He also mentioned that their solidarity and interaction are expanding every day, and economically, their relations are growing. Erdogan’s acceptance of an invitation to attend the BRICS conference in Russia next month has drawn criticism from some quarters.
