“Gakharia’s Party Reveals Leading MP Candidates for October Election”

Former Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia’s opposition party, For Georgia, has announced its list of front-runners for the upcoming parliamentary elections in October. The party, which was founded in 2021 after Gakharia’s split from the ruling Dream party, includes a mix of old and new political faces.

Gakharia himself tops the list, followed by former government officials who served under him during his time as interior minister and prime minister. The list also includes three former MPs who were elected on Georgian Dream’s ticket in 2016 but left the party in 2019, as well as three incumbent MPs who defected from the ruling party in 2021.

Six out of the top twenty candidates are women, and Gakharia emphasized the party’s commitment to national and European development with “real peace, real dignity, and real prosperity.”
