**No Point in Negotiating with Putin, Says Alexei Navalny’s Widow**
Yulia Navalnaya, the widow of Russian dissident Alexei Navalny, spoke out against negotiating with President Vladimir Putin at the Munich Security Conference on February 14. She warned that any attempts to make agreements with Putin would be futile.
Navalnaya said that even if negotiations were made with Putin, he would lie and betray. He would change the rules at the last minute and force others to play his game. Her comments come as U.S. and Ukrainian officials gather in Europe to discuss ways to end Russia’s war with Ukraine.
**No Trust in Putin**
Navalnaya emphasized that there is no trust to be had in Putin. She said that if he remains in power, he will find a way to break any agreement made with him. If he loses power, the agreement would become meaningless. This stance contradicts U.S. President Donald Trump’s promise to strike a deal with Moscow that brings an end to the war in Ukraine.
**Supporting Ukraine**
Navalnaya spoke alongside exiled Belarusian opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya at the conference. Tsikhanouskaya emphasized that supporting Ukraine against Russian aggression would help other countries, including Belarus and Moldova. She said that by helping Ukraine, others are helping the whole region.
**Remembering Alexei Navalny**
The conference took place days before the anniversary of Alexei Navalny’s death on February 16 in a Russian penal colony. His wife has accused Putin of murdering him and vowed to continue his political work. The Kremlin denies any role in Navalny’s death.
