**Ukraine Asks Europe to Send High-Level Envoy for Peace Talks**
The government of Ukraine wants European countries to name a top official to help negotiate an end to the war with Russia. This was reported by Bloomberg on February 17.
This comes after US President Donald Trump‘s special envoy, Keith Kellogg, said that Europe would not be directly involved in peace talks, but its interests would still be considered.
Ukraine wants Europe to name a high-level representative as soon as possible, possibly even during an emergency meeting in Paris on February 17. The official should have the same level of authority as President Volodymyr Zelensky and other leaders.
President Zelensky himself agrees with this idea. He thinks Europe needs its own representative to make sure its voice is heard during negotiations.
European leaders are concerned that the US is holding peace talks with Russia without involving them. They want to make sure their interests are represented too.
Some European leaders, like Finland’s President Alexander Stubb and Croatia‘s Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic, have called for the EU to appoint a special envoy to stay involved in the negotiations.
