**Protesters Arrested at Israeli-Owned Arms Factory**
Six people were arrested after a protest against an arms factory in Newcastle, England. The protesters climbed up the gatehouse of the Pearson Engineering factory, which is owned by an Israeli defence technology firm.
The protesters unfurled a banner that read “This factory kills kids.” They were protesting because they think it’s wrong for the Israeli government to own a weapons factory in their community. A Palestine Action spokesperson said, “The Israeli government owning weapons factories in Newcastle is a blot on the community.”
**Damage and Sentences**
Two protesters admitted to causing criminal damage to the site. They damaged things worth £157,000 (PS157,000). The judge gave them suspended sentences.
**Previous Protests**
This is not the first time there have been protests at this factory. Smaller demonstrations took place in March 2024. Pearson Engineering was contacted for comment about the latest protest.
