**Anti–Corruption Crackdown in Serbia**
Prosecutors in Belgrade have ordered the arrest of two high-ranking officials in a move to combat corruption.
The head of the Serbian Nurses’ Chamber and a department chief at the Military Medical Academy (VMA) were both arrested on Tuesday.
The former CEO of the Nurses’ Chamber is accused of taking 30 million Dinars, which is around €250,000. She allegedly transferred money from chamber accounts to her personal account and took funds meant for humanitarian aid.
A separate arrest warrant was issued for a clinic head at VMA. She is suspected of taking 3 million Dinars by directing DUI patients to charge through an auxiliary office instead of the main financial office.
The arrests are part of President Aleksandar Vucic‘s campaign against corruption in state institutions.
