**U.S. Envoy Praises Ukrainian President After Talks**
The U.S. special envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, has praised Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky after their meeting this week.
Kellogg met with Zelensky and top Ukrainian officials in Kyiv on February 20th. He said the discussions were “extensive and positive”. This is a contrast to recent statements from the White House, where U.S. President Donald Trump called Zelensky a “dictator without elections” who was doing a “terrible job”.
The disagreements between Washington and Kyiv seem to be about Ukraine’s natural resources. The U.S. has proposed a deal that would give them access to these resources, but Ukraine is hesitant due to lack of security guarantees.
Despite the differences, Zelensky said the meeting with Kellogg “restored hope” and he emphasized the need for strong agreements with America that will really work.
**A New Draft?**
The Trump administration has presented an improved draft of the minerals agreement. This comes after Ukraine refused to sign the original deal due to concerns about security guarantees.
