**Australian Charity Donates $3.15 Million to Ukraine**
The Minderoo Foundation, a charity founded by Australian billionaire Andrew Forrest, has donated 5 million Australian dollars ($3.15 million) to support Ukrainian communities affected by Russia’s aggression.
This donation is the latest in a series of efforts by the foundation to help Ukraine recover from the war. The package builds on previous donations totaling 20 million Australian dollars ($12.6 million), which were used for demining, food and energy security, and protecting children in Ukraine.
The funds will be used to support communities in regions such as Dnipro, Mykolaiv, Kharkiv, and others that have been impacted by Russia’s use of cluster munitions and other forms of violence. The donation also includes funding for demining efforts in agricultural areas, households affected by the war, and peace-building activities.
**Humanitarian Crisis Deepens**
The full-scale war in Ukraine has entered its fourth year, with millions displaced and housing and infrastructure devastated in front-line regions. Russian aggression has sparked a deep humanitarian crisis, leaving many communities struggling to recover.
“The invasion of one country by another is wholly offensive to civilization,” said Andrew Forrest. “Ukraine has every right to protect its borders, and the international community will be extremely shortsighted if it does not stand with Ukraine.”
**Call for Accountability**
Forrest also called on governments across Europe to redouble their efforts to make Russian assets and elite interests pay for the war of aggression they have waged on Ukraine. He noted that philanthropy can play a crucial role, but ultimately, it is up to governments to take responsibility.
The Minderoo Foundation’s latest donation reflects its commitment to supporting Ukraine’s territorial integrity and peace efforts. “President Zelensky is the democratically elected leader of his people and a man of great character and resilience,” said Andrew Forrest. “We unequivocally support Ukraine to recover from this atrocious war on the terms acceptable to him and his people.”
