Serbian Government Passes New Bill on Information Security
The Serbian government has approved a new bill that aims to improve the country‘s information security. The legislation is designed to keep up with modern trends and ensure that computer systems are used safely.
The new law makes it clearer who operates ICT (information and communication technology) systems. It also increases checks on these systems and imposes stricter penalties for any wrongdoing. This will help protect against threats and attacks, said the Ministry of Information and Telecommunications.
The National CERT (Computer Emergency Response Team) will play a bigger role in responding to incidents and threats. The new law also improves coordination between different authorities and makes it easier to work with other countries on information sharing.
According to the ministry, this new law fixes problems in the old one and adds extra protection for computer systems and networks. It will make digital services safer and help Serbia’s electronic services market become more competitive. This could attract investment to the ICT sector.
The government hopes that a new certification process for ICT products and services will raise security standards. This will benefit individuals, businesses, the economy, and government institutions alike.
