EU and Georgia: Programs Suspended, Not Erasmus+
The European Union has stopped some programs that helped the Georgian government. However, they will continue to support young Georgians through the Erasmus+ program.
This decision was made by the EU Press Service in Brussels. They believe that young people are important for Georgia‘s path towards joining the European Union. The EU wants to help these youth achieve their goals and stay on track with their country‘s development.
The German government has also taken action. Germany’s Federal Ministry of Education and Research has stopped scientific cooperation between Germany and Georgia. This includes student exchanges, research projects, and Georgia’s participation in EU programs.
Germany’s Ambassador, Peter Fischer, explained the reason for this decision. He said it was due to restrictions on academic freedom and the suspension of Georgia’s EU membership process.
