**Journalists Association Calls Out President Vucic**
The Journalists’ Association of Serbia and the Union of Serbian Journalists have spoken out against a statement made by Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic. He called RTS journalist Lidija Georgijev an “imbecile” because she reported on student protests in Nis.
**President Should Apologize**
The journalists’ associations said that President Vucic’s comment was not suitable for a public official, especially the president of the country. They demanded an apology to the journalist and pointed out that under the Law on Public Information and Media, no one has the right to insult or obstruct journalists in their work.
**Students Support Journalist**
The University Working Group for Media and Communication in Nis also spoke out against President Vucic’s comment. They said they were not surprised by his statement but still condemned it. The students expressed their support for Lidija Georgijev and all other journalists who do their job diligently and responsibly.
**Public TV Should Respond**
The students called on the RTS to respond quickly to President Vucic’s comments and stand up in defense of journalist Lidija Georgijev. They said that the public media service should not be used as a private television station for politicians in power.
