Ukraine Rescues 179 People from Lebanon

This evacuation was prompted by ‘s ground invasion of southern Lebanon, which was part of their campaign against the -backed militant group Hezbollah. Prior to the invasion, Israel had been carrying out intense aerial attacks on Lebanon, resulting in the deaths of hundreds of people. In response, Iran launched a missile attack on an air base.

Following Israel’s ground invasion, the Foreign released a statement urging all parties to show restraint in order to prevent the conflict from escalating into a larger regional . The successful evacuation of 179 people, including 134 Ukrainian citizens, was later announced by . Among the evacuees were 112 adults, 22 children, and 45 people of other nationalities, including citizens of Poland, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Moldova, Brazil, and Lebanon. The evacuation even included a dog and a cat.

This was not the first evacuation carried out by Ukraine in response to the tensions in the region. Since early August, a total of 234 people have been evacuated from Lebanon. The Foreign Ministry expressed their gratitude to Poland and SkyUp Airlines for their assistance in the operation.
