**Ukraine’s President Asks US to Clarify Military Aid**
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky asked his officials on March 4 to contact the United States and get a clear answer about future military aid.
He said it was time for “a respectful dialogue” between Ukraine and America, and that people shouldn’t be guessing. This comes after reports that US President Donald Trump stopped $1 billion in American military aid to Ukraine.
**Military Aid Was Paused Before**
Zelensky mentioned that military aid was briefly stopped in late January because of disagreements within the White House. It was restored later.
He also warned that Russia, which is fighting a war with Ukraine, has not changed its position and still wants Ukraine’s army to be smaller, for it to give up some territories, and for its government to be weakened.
**US Officials React**
The US Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, said on March 4 that stopping aid was just a “temporary pause”. He linked this to a dispute between Zelensky and Trump in February. The meeting ended without signing a mineral agreement between Ukraine and the US.
Some US officials have been putting pressure on Zelensky to apologize for the White House disagreement. But Zelensky said that wasn’t necessary, and that Ukraine was still ready to sign agreements with the US “at any time”.
