According to the “Khortytsia” Operational and Strategic Group of Troops, the enemy was determined to take control of the city at all costs. They redirected their reserves to launch flanking attacks, which weakened the defense of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. This put the city at risk of being surrounded.
Despite suffering heavy losses in the ongoing battle, the enemy refused to give up their attempts to capture Vuhledar. In response, the higher command authorized a maneuver to withdraw troops from the city. This was done to protect the soldiers and their equipment, and to prepare for future actions.
