Serbian Students Call for General Strike
Protesting students in Serbia called for a general strike on Friday. The strike was a major protest against the current government’s policies.
In several cities and towns, high school students and their supporters marched through the streets. They carried signs and banners to show their support for the protests by students and teachers.
One of these marches went from Obrenovac to Belgrade’s central square, Slavija. The marchers were protesting against what they see as unfair government policies.
In another part of Serbia, people gathered in towns like Zrenjanin, Sombor, Vrbas, Novi Becej, Kikinda, and Srbobran. They had been called to gather by high school students who wanted to show their support for the protests.
The protesters were asking people not to spend money or go to work on Friday. They also asked people not to visit cafes, restaurants, shops, movies, or theaters.
At the same time, crowds in various towns and cities across Serbia observed 15 minutes of silence. This was a tribute to those who lost their lives at the Novi Sad Railway Station tragedy.
