On 4, Deputy Defense Pawel Zalewski announced that the Ukrainian consulate Lublin has started recruiting Ukrainian volunteers living in . These volunteers will receive training from Polish forces. Defense Minister Wladyslaw Kosiniak-Kamysz stated that Poland was ready to begin training in September, but there weren’ enough volunteers at the time. However, he expressed hope that with Ukraine’s efforts in promoting and recruiting for the program, more volunteers will come forward.

The volunteer unit, known as the legion, was introduced in July and is up of Ukrainian men living in Poland. They will be trained by the as part of a security agreement signed by and on July 8. Zalewski also mentioned that Poland has already trained over 20,000 Ukrainian soldiers through the EU training program. He stressed the importance of Ukraine’s defense capabilities and overall resilience for Poland’s security.

Furthermore, Zalewski stated that Poland is exploring options to provide resources to Ukraine and is also participating in international projects, such as the purchase of ammunition for Ukraine. He added that they will continue to work towards supporting Ukraine in any way possible.
