The day before, on March 9, police fined nine students 5,000 GEL each for participating in a peaceful protest at the university. This happened when the students were asked to leave the building because of “disinfection work”. The students had asked for a separate space to continue their protest, but this was not provided.

The GYLA has repeatedly said that higher should respect and protect students’ . But in this case, they say that the Theater University administration is not doing this. Instead, it is taking away students’ rights.
