**Government Refuses to End Dispute Over Port Project**
A dispute over a port project in Georgia has led to the government spending millions of dollars on lawyers. This is according to Mamuka Khazaradze, a leader of the Strong Georgia coalition.
Khazaradze says that before the dispute started, his group officially asked the government to settle the issue. However, the government refused. The group spent up to 72 million GEL (around $22 million USD) on legal services instead.
**Millions Wasted**
Khazaradze claims that if the government had given a guarantee to international banks when they first requested it, the port would have been finished and operating now. He says this would have kept investors involved in the project.
Instead, the government’s decision to refuse settlement has led to the project being cancelled. Khazaradze is critical of this decision, saying that it shows a “Russian policy” in Georgia.
