Court Hearing in Georgia Draws Criticism
Levan Khabeishvili, a leader of the “Unity – National Movement,” spoke out against the court hearing involving former President Mikheil Saakashvili and Temur Janashia, the former head of the State Security Service. According to him, this case is not about wasted money, but about high-level meetings with partners that led to spending.
Khabeishvili criticized Bidzina Ivanishvili, an oligarch who has admitted to stealing three billion from the people. He said that Ivanishvili is accusing Saakashvili of hosting Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, which Khabeishvili calls “the height of cynicism.”
The court hearing comes after 11 years of investigation into Saakashvili’s actions. Khabeishvili argues that this case is a fulfillment of Vladimir Putin‘s promise, with Georgians judging the third president.
Khabeishvili believes that under Ivanishvili’s control, the verdict will be guilty. He also points out that Temur Janashia has been dragged through the courts for years, despite serving the state and hosting high-level individuals.
In a statement, Khabeishvili said: “It is cynical when a fraudster and a thief judges the third president and Temur Janashia.”
