**Georgian Parliament Leader Responds to Mikheil Saakashvili’s Sentencing**
Gia Volski, the First Vice Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, has spoken out against the sentencing of former president Mikheil Saakashvili. Saakashvili was given nine years in prison for embezzling large sums of public funds.
**Criticism of Saakashvili’s Leadership**
Volski criticized Saakashvili’s claim that he saved Georgia from Russian aggression. Volski argued that Saakashvili prioritized his own interests over the country’s and that 20% of Georgian territory is occupied because of this.
**Allegations of Corruption**
Volski made several allegations against Saakashvili, including misusing state funds for personal luxury. He stated that Saakashvili spent millions on cosmetics, travel, and other expenses. Volski also claimed that Saakashvili tortured people and seized property.
**Court Sentencing**
As mentioned earlier, the court sentenced Mikheil Saakashvili to nine years in prison and Teimuraz Janashia was fined 300,000 GEL for their involvement in embezzling public funds.
