**US and Ukraine Take First Steps Towards Peace**
The US has proposed a 30-day ceasefire in the conflict between Ukraine and Russia. This is the first time President Trump has made an official proposal for peace.
At the same time, the US has unblocked military aid to Ukraine. This suggests that the Americans do not believe Putin will agree to the ceasefire on his own.
Now it’s up to Putin to respond to Trump’s offer. But a ceasefire will only be possible if Russia stops its goal of fully occupying Ukrainian regions.
**The Path to Peace**
For peace to come, Russia must first lose on the battlefield. Ukraine needs to prove that it can defeat Russia through military means. To do this, Ukraine needs to eliminate more Russian troops than Putin can bring in – about 40,000 per month.
If Putin’s army is weakened, it will be hard for him to keep fighting. This would force him to accept a peace deal.
**US Support Key**
To achieve this, the US must provide Ukraine with significant military aid. Not just enough to stop Russia, but enough to defeat them. This means providing modern drones, electronic warfare systems, and communication equipment.
If the US does not increase its support for Ukraine’s military, Putin will not be forced into peace.
