**EU Ambassador Accused of Interfering in Georgia‘s Elections**
The Speaker of Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, has accused the EU Ambassador to Georgia, Pawel Herczynski, of interfering in the country‘s internal politics. According to Papuashvili, the ambassador was “clearly involved” in the anti-government pre-election campaign.
**Violation of Diplomatic Rules**
Papuashvili claims that the Vienna Convention prohibits diplomats from interfering in a country’s internal politics. He believes that the EU Ambassador went beyond his diplomatic role and got involved in the election campaign. Papuashvili pointed out that the ambassador even used creative methods, such as telling stories and reciting poems.
**Comparison with Germany**
Papuashvili compared the situation to one in Germany where Elon Musk was criticized for making a statement about political parties before elections. He argued that government representatives in Georgia have also interfered in election battles using worse methods than the EU Ambassador.
**Call for Diplomatic Restraint**
The Speaker of Parliament called on the ambassadors to respect their diplomatic roles and not interfere in Georgia’s internal politics. He reminded them that the EU evaluates the country’s progress through relevant documents, including one published every October. Papuashvili pointed out that this year’s document showed progress in almost all factors, except for one.
