**Gendarmerie and BIA Deny Having Sonic Weapon**
A question was raised about the use of a sonic weapon during a protest in Belgrade on Saturday. The protesters claimed that police used a sound cannon to hurt people.
The Gendarmerie, Serbia’s police force, denied giving any equipment to the country’s top security agency, the BIA. They said they never handed over any kind of device, including a sonic weapon.
Miroslav Aleksic, an opposition MP, asked if the BIA had received a sound cannon from the Gendarmerie just days before the protest. He also questioned whether agency personnel used it as claimed by protesters and NGOs.
The Gendarmerie responded with a statement saying they never gave any equipment to the BIA. They also said they did not use any illegal equipment, including on Saturday when the protest took place.
**Denial from BIA**
The BIA, Serbia’s top security agency, also denied using a sonic weapon during the protest. In a statement, they said their agents never saw such an equipment nor heard sounds made by it.
They accused Miroslav Aleksic and others of lying about the use of a sonic weapon on Saturday. The BIA also stated that they never had such a weapon in their possession.
