**Ukrainian Supreme Court Ruling on Military Mobilization**
A man claimed that the enlistment office‘s actions were wrong. He said he didn’t have a medical exam before joining the army, and therefore shouldn’t be in the military.
According to Ukrainian law, people who join the army must have a medical exam first. This is to make sure they are fit for service. The lower court agreed with the man and ordered him to leave the military. However, the Supreme Court changed this decision.
The Supreme Court said that even if the enlistment office’s actions were wrong, it doesn’t mean the person should be let go from the army. Once someone is called to join the military, it can’t be undone. The court also mentioned that the man broke a law by not having the medical exam.
**Abuses in Ukraine‘s Military Mobilization**
There have been many cases of suspected abuse by enlistment officials against civilians and soldiers since Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022. In one recent case, a 32-year-old man died at a military office in Chernivtsi Oblast. The police are investigating this incident.
Another case was reported earlier this year where a 32-year-old conscript named Serhii Kovalchuk died after being at a military enlistment office. There were reports that he was beaten, which might have caused his death.
