**Serbia in Emergency State**

A high-ranking official from the European Parliament has spoken out about Serbia’s situation. Tonino Picula, the parliament’s rapporteur for Serbia, said that the country is in an undeclared state of emergency.
**Emergency Situation**
Picula made his comments after a 16th person died in Novi Sad. He believes this will bring back memories of protests in Serbia and who was responsible. He thinks the government has not handled the situation well and has been unable to meet demands from protesters.
**Government Response**
The Serbian government, led by President Aleksandar Vucic, is under pressure to find those responsible for the situation. Picula believes they are trying to shift focus away from internal problems and onto external enemies.

Picula also warned about neighboring countries going through tough times. He thinks Croatia should pay attention to this and make sure the European Union understands that these countries are negotiating membership. **Report on Serbia**
Picula presented his annual report to the European Parliament, which included 327 amendments and 322 compromise amendments. He hopes the report will be adopted by the Foreign Affairs Committee soon.
