Ukraine braces itself for a Russian push near Orikhiv, in Zaporizhzhia Oblast, in the coming days

Vladyslav Voloshyn, spokesperson the Southern Defense Forces, said on air that the Russian forces were preparing to make breakthrough towards Orikhiv in Zaporizhzhia Oblast within the next few days.
This is another warning about a possible Russian push in southern Zaporizhzhia Oblast, just as Moscow’s forces continue to advance in Ukraine’s eastern part.
Voloshyn stated that “if they achieve a breakthrough,” Russia will be able fire on the logistical routes linking Zaporizhzhia with the east of Ukraine.
“Russia will do anything to stop our logistics.”
Ukrainian intelligence indicates that Russian forces are amassing troops and logistical support and “in a couple of days, they’ll likely start new offensive operation,” the spokesperson said.
Voloshyn anticipates that Russia will deploy small assault groups supported by armored vehicles.
Orikhiv, a Ukrainian-held city, is located approximately 50 kilometers (31miles) southeast of Zaporizhziha and about 10 kilometers (6miles) north of front line.
The area was the main axis for Ukraine’s southern offensive in 2023. This led to the liberation Robotyne, but no major breakthrough.
In the early part of this year, Russia intensified its offensives in the south, claiming that it was recapturing Robotyne. Ukraine has denied this claim repeatedly.
