Ukraine and Slovakia’s leaders of government met for a wide range of topics, including support of President Zelenskyy’s peace plan and future of gas transit via Ukraine.
Reports from Suspilne correspondent at the scene show that on 7th October, Denys Shmyhal, Ukrainian Prime Minister and Robert Fico, his Slovak counterpart met near Uzhhorod.
The leaders will discuss energy security and infrastructure project cooperation. Shmyhal said that this is the second time he has met with the Slovakian government.
“We will discuss the roadmap, a plan of measures that we signed at our first meeting. This includes cooperation on infrastructure projects, economy, and energy safety,” Shmyhal wrote in Telegram.
Fico’s controversial remarks prompted the meeting. The Slovak PM has expressed his opposition to Ukraine joining NATO and reminded that all members of the alliance must approve membership. Fico has said in the past that he wants to restore normal relations between Russia and Slovakia after the war ends in Ukraine.
