**University of Belgrade Rector Speaks Out**

The relationship between the state and the University of Belgrade is under strain. Professor Vladan Djokic, the university’ rector, says the is exerting pressure various areas.

Professor Djokic emphasized that the state should not see the university as enemy or threat. In an interview with RTS ( TV), he said the university has been targeted by the government since it showed support students.

The professor highlighted that the Serbian Government’s decision to cut professors’, lecturers’, and ‘ salaries to just 15 percent is unlawful. The university is taking legal action against this decision, saying it has not acted unlawfully.

Classes at the University of Belgrade have been disrupted due to blockades. Professor Djokic said the university believes these blockades are a result of the government’s pressure on faculties and staff.
