Six Georgian citizens who were illegally detained in the vicinity of Mejvriskhevi village in Gori municipality by the Russian occupation forces are now free and in the territory controlled central government.
The State Security Service disseminates the information.
According to the agency all destructive actions in the occupied areas of Georgia and along occupation lines are the responsibility of the occupying forces.
“As soon as we received the information about this illegal detention, all the mechanisms available to the central government were activated. The information was shared among the co-chairs at the Geneva International Discussions as well as our international partners. The European Union Monitoring Mission in Georgia (EUMM) was directly involved in this process.
The central government continues to work with international partners to free all Georgians illegally imprisoned on occupied territories, according to the statement.
